Knicks Banner, LeBron’s Debut, and a Spurs-Thunder Rematch Open the NBA Season

The 2026-27 NBA season opens on Tuesday with a three-game tripleheader on NBC and Peacock, starting with the Boston Celtics at the Detroit Pistons at 3 p.m. ET. In Singapore, the action runs from 3 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

The New York Knicks raise their first championship banner since 1973 in the middle game, and the night ends with a Western Conference finals rematch in San Antonio. For NBA betting Singapore, the decimal prices tell their own story, with the Knicks the shortest favourites of the day at around 1.49.

Two Seeds, One Coin Flip in Detroit

The first game of the season pairs the top two teams in the East from last season. Detroit won 60 games and took the No. 1 seed, while Boston finished second.

The books can barely separate them. Odds compiled by RG.org have the Pistons between 1.86 and 1.98 and the Celtics between 1.83 and 1.95, depending on the bookmaker. Betting analysts quoted by The Journal News lean towards the under, and one published projection has Detroit winning 111-103.

Both rosters changed over the summer. Detroit added John Collins and Isaiah Joe but lost Tobias Harris to San Antonio. Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren and Ausar Thompson give the Pistons their core.

Boston look very different. Jaylen Brown went to Philadelphia in the trade that brought Paul George to Boston, and Mitchell Robinson arrived from New York.

Jayson Tatum leads the attack after his return from Achilles surgery, with George and Derrick White alongside him. Cunningham is the player Detroit’s season runs through, and ESPN describes him as an MVP-calibre engine.

Banner Night at the Garden

Tip-off at Madison Square Garden is 7 p.m. ET, or 7 a.m. on Wednesday in Singapore. Before it, New York celebrate a 53-win season that ended with a 4-1 Finals victory over San Antonio, with Jalen Brunson named Finals MVP.

The Knicks bring back their starting five of Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns. Hart missed the preseason finale with ankle soreness but took full part in Monday’s practice. Robinson left for Boston, and Andre Drummond arrived to cover the frontcourt.

Philadelphia arrive with a rebuilt group. LeBron James makes his 76ers debut after signing in the summer , and Brown joins Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe in the projected starting five.

New York are favoured by between 4.5 and 5.5 points. The decimal prices have the Knicks at around 1.49 to 1.54 and the 76ers at 2.50 to 2.71.

One projection has the Knicks winning 118-114. Some analysts prefer the over, pointing to the extra shot creation James and Brown bring to Philadelphia.

The Rematch in San Antonio

The day closes at the Frost Bank Center at 9:30 p.m. ET, which is 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Singapore. Oklahoma City return to the building where their season ended, after San Antonio won last year’s Western Conference finals in seven games, taking Game 7 in Oklahoma City.

The Spurs had the better of the rivalry all season.  They won eight of the 12 meetings across the regular season, the NBA Cup and the playoffs, before losing the Finals 4-1 to New York.

Oklahoma City finished with the league’s best record and net rating for a second straight season. The headline matchup on the floor puts two-time reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander against Defensive Player of the Year Victor Wembanyama.

San Antonio projected a starting five of Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, Dylan Harper, De’Aaron Fox and Harris. That plan has already changed, with Harris ruled out of the opener because of a calf strain, according to The Athletic.

Oklahoma City should start Gilgeous-Alexander, Cason Wallace, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren and, most likely, Isaiah Hartenstein. Holmgren is listed as day-to-day with a quadriceps injury, so that lineup depends on a late fitness call.

The Thunder spent the summer resetting their roster and payroll. They traded away Lu Dort, Joe and Aaron Wiggins, and added 7-foot-3 draft pick Aday Mara.

The Spurs are slight home favourites, priced at around 1.71 to 1.77, with the Thunder at 2.11 to 2.20. Several analysts like Oklahoma City at plus money, and one projection has the Thunder winning 107-101.

The Title Picture

The same two teams sit at the top of the championship market. San Antonio and Oklahoma City enter the season as co-favourites to win the 2027 title, priced at around 3.50 to 3.70.

All of these prices at basketball betting Singapore sites are snapshots and can move before tip-off, especially if injury news or late lineup changes land on the day.
