Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr Win PFA Player of the Year Awards

Following his nearly loss on claiming the Premier League championship title, Mohamed Salah defeated Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester United to bag his second PFA Player of the Year award. Meanwhile, Sam Kerr of Chelsea women’s football team became the first Australian who has received the award.

Salah has won the PFA Awards

Salah is highly considered by many as the top goalscorer in the Premier League so it all makes sense that he also won the PFA Player of the Year Award. Salah defeated other football superstars who are being considered to win such as Harry Kane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and fellow Liverpool player, Sadio Mane.

Kerr becomes first Australian to win PFA Awards

Sam Kerr of Chelsea Football Club Women became the first Australian football player to have won the PFA Player of the Year Award. She finally received the award following her failure to win the award in 2021 when she was defeated by her squad-mate Fran Kirby.

Kerr became the top goalscorer of the current season of the Women’s Super League where she scored 20 goals. The 2022 PFA Award also granted honor for other two outstanding individuals. The PFA Merit Awards was given to Roy Hodgson and Hope Powell. The two former England coaches received the accolades for their huge contribution to the industry of soccer and sports betting.

After having an illustrious career in football for 40 years, Hodgson finally retired last month and he’s deeply grateful in receiving the honor.
