Since then, it has provided its locals with an opportunity to still legally place bets on sports and different lotteries. It was mainly to combat illegal betting avenues that existed and were widespread at the time.

On May 1st of 2004, A statutory board of the Ministry of Finance named the Tote Board took ownership of the company. This allowed Singapore Pools to operate without any issues in terms of legality. Additionally, the Ministry of Home Affairs also granted Singapore Pools an exemption under the Remote Gambling Act 2014 which prohibits any forms of online or remote gambling.
