The inaugural FIBA Basketball World Cup will be held in Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines from August 25th to September 10th.
The FIBA World Cup 2023, which just completed, was scheduled to begin in 2018, but the date was moved up to 2022 so that it could take place on a schedule independent from the FIFA World Cup. Consequently, the event will take place once more in 2023.
Host selection

The governing body of basketball reached the decision on June 7th, 2016 to start accepting proposals for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. On June 1st, 2017, FIBA announced the list of applicants after Russia and Turkey opted out of bidding to host the World Cup.
Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines were announced as the winning bidders on December 9; they will host the next World Cup.
Indonesia, Japan, and the Philippines will all play host to games at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023, and all three countries have already selected their favorite teams to compete in the Group Stage.
The FIBA Central Board has confirmed that the United States will visit the Philippines, that Slovenia will visit Japan, and that Canada will visit Indonesia after consultations with the host countries. Already qualified are Slovenia and Canada; a win by the United States in the last Window of qualifying would give them a very good chance of joining them.
Each host might financially benefit from rooting for a certain team, but this would not affect the integrity of the event or the selection of teams at random.
